Advanced System Care – Help Keep Scammers Away by Cleaning and Secureing Your PC Effectively and Keeping it that Way

A Victorian woman with stage four breast cancer has had her entire life savings stolen by a cruel scammer who tricked her into believing there was an issue with her PayPal.

Carolyn Coster, from West Gippsland, was told the heartbreaking news her cancer had spread to her bones while visiting LaTrobe Regional Hospital just a few days before Christmas.

After returning home from the hospital, the devastated 58-year-old received a call from an unknown Sydney number.

The caller identified himself as ‘Robert Brown’ and told Ms Coster there was a problem with her PayPal account.

The scammer told Ms Coster that her PayPal had been ‘ripping her off’ and asked for her bank account details so that he could fix the issue.

Ms Coster’s friend Marg Thomson said the ‘evil’ scammer preyed on the vulnerability of a sick woman.

She explained Ms Coster received a scam email a few months prior claiming there had been a fraudulent transaction on her PayPal,  which made her believe the call was legitimate.

The scammer called back multiple times over the next few days before Coster gave him her Bendigo Bank account number and pin.

Ms Coster checked her bank account on December 30 and found her entire life-savings of $5,000 was stolen.
