Australians are being urged to be wary of a new PayPal scam, in the form of fake invoices sent via email.

The National Anti-Scam Centre (NASC), run by the federal government, warned of the scam in a Twitter post this month.

“Be on the lookout for a recent phishing scam in your email inbox, this time using PayPal,” the NASC said.

“The emails are invoices with unpaid amounts and include a scam phone number to call back to reverse the charge.”

The NASC shared an example of one of the emails sent as part of the scam.
