If you receive a suspicious text message claiming to be from your bank and asking you to verify your account, do not open it. There is a possibility of encountering difficulties.

There is currently a widespread phishing scam that is both persistent and advanced in its techniques. The concise SMS messages include links and phrases such as “account notification”, “notification”, or “confirm your identity”.

According to a warning from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) on Wednesday, if you click on the provided link, you will be directed to a counterfeit mobile banking website that closely resembles the authentic one.

And it’s not only ANZ customers who should exercise caution. Customers of Bank of Queensland, St George Bank, Suncorp Bank, NAB, Macquarie Bank, Heritage Bank, Bendigo Bank, and GE Money have all been victims of targeting as well.

“The extensive utilization of internet domains that closely mimic the authentic domains of Australian and New Zealand banks highlights the advanced and comprehensive nature of the campaign,” stated the alert.
