In my experience, I have extensively covered a wide range of fraudulent activities, including romance scams, puppy scams, and the more recent deceptive scheme known as the “Hi Mum” scam.

Furthermore, due to my husband’s occupation in IT, he has effectively instilled a heightened sense of caution in me regarding the possibility of falling victim to email and text scams.

However, my desire to find a good deal led me to be a victim of two shopping scams in a row last week, one from a bottle retailer called frank green and the other from a clothing store called Cotton On Kids.

I should have realized and caught on to the signs when all the sizes were still in stock; I should have realized when I couldn’t find a click-and-collect option; I definitely should have realized before I spent $65 and willingly provided my credit card information.

The frank green scam had a similar outcome. I was directed to a very polished and professional website that strongly resembled the branding of frank green, thanks to an Instagram advertisement.

During the 2023 clearance sale, the price of a $59 water bottle was reduced to a more acceptable $26, making it a plausible deal.

After previously making a successful purchase from the official frank green website, I encountered the same order form and happily entered my credit card information once more, eager for the excitement of my children receiving the highly desired drink bottles.

Everything fell apart when I later reviewed my credit card statement.

I had received credible confirmation emails from both companies, along with a tracking email from ‘Cotton On’, but my bank statement showed a contradicting account.

Cotton On became a sensation in Hong Kong with an intriguing PHP*style, while frank green had a presence on TOSUNFLOWERBABYS. COM
