Advanced System Care – Help Keep Scammers Away by Cleaning and Secureing Your PC Effectively and Keeping it that Way

Bravo host Andy Cohen on Wednesday told NBC’s “Today” show hosts he’d fallen victim to a scam that led him to provide phone forwarding and bank account access to fraudsters—he’s not the first Hollywood A-lister to lose money as government officials have warn scam attempts have skyrocketed in recent years.

Cohen said he was duped after he lost his debit card and scammers posing as bank employees emailed him a link that led him to log into his bank account.

Once the scammers had access to his financial information, they continued communications through phone calls and text messages and tricked Cohen into authorizing several “sizable” wire transfers and activating call forwarding, which meant any future calls disputing the transfers went straight to the scammers before Cohen could intervene.

Cohen found out about the scheme after physically going to a branch of his bank the next day and being told the money—the amount of which he did not disclose—had been taken out of his account; the NYPD Cyber Security Unit is investigating the theft.

The scam is an example of email phishing, bank fraud and imposter schemes, which the Federal Trade Commission warns were the No. 1 type of scam reported to the agency in 2022.
