A man is set to appear in court, accused of stealing over $800,000 through internet scams in Victoria.

According to the police, the individuals who were allegedly victimized visited deceptive websites that were posing as genuine financial institutions offering investment opportunities. These incidents occurred from the months of June to September of the previous year.

Yesterday, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence located on Arlington Street in Portarlington, close to Geelong.

A 63-year-old male was taken into custody and accused of committing five acts of fraudulently acquiring assets, as well as possessing five assets believed to be derived from criminal activity.

He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on September 25th.
